WHO WE ARE AT THE
LARKSPUR LIBRARY ENDOWMENT FUND AND FOUNDATION
|
|
The Larkspur Library Foundation is managed by a nine member Board of Directors and their officers. The efforts of the Board and its officers are entirely voluntary, that is, there is no paid staff. These volunteers donate their time and talent to growing the Foundation so that it can continue to provide support for the Larkspur's Library, known affectionately for years as the "World's Greatest Little Library".

A Founder of the Foundation, former Secretary and its current President; member of the Larkspur Planning Commission 1982-1991; Larkspur City Council member 1991-2003; Mayor 1996 and 2001; lawyer, partner of Watson & Lanctot LLP, San Francisco; graduate of Santa Clara University (B.A. History), University of San Francisco School of Law (J.D.) and Columbia School of Law (LLM); resident of Larkspur since 1972.

Lois Patton, Treasurer

A Founder of the Foundation who has long served as a director and its Treasurer. Graduate of University of Redlands (B.A.), University of California, Berkeley (secondary and elementary teaching credentials). She has been a resident of Larkspur for 35 years.
“The Larkspur Library is a special place and an important part of why the City of Larkspur is so special. The Foundation provides much needed support, and I am happy to be a member of the board.”

Alina Bermudez
|
 |
Devoted mother of two children who stayed at home for several years. She now works as an Insurance Agent for State Farm, in San Francisco. Is a Licensed Family Therapist, graduate of Catholic University of America (B.A. Psychology), and has a master’s degree in counseling from Tulane University. She is a resident of Larkspur since 1998.
“I believe a library is a door to help one achieve, regardless of socioeconomic status. It nourishes one’s mind, it expands one’s horizons and it allows one to dream.”

H. William Howard
|
 |
He served on the Larkspur City Council from 1976 to 1980 and was its Mayor in 1978. He has served on numerous boards throughout his career. Before his recent retirement, he served as chief information officer for Sun Microsystems, Inland Steel Industries and Bechtel Group. He is a graduate of Princeton University and has an MBA from Stanford.
“I joined the Board of Trustees to help the Library enjoy continued success in serving the needs of the community especially for the young people who can benefit so much from the magic of reading.”

Robert H. Staley
|
 |
Lawyer; partner with Epstein, Englert, Staley & Coffey. Phillips Andover Academy (1978); U. C. San Diego (B.A. Philosophy 1982) and University of San Francisco (J.D. 1985). Has served on other philanthropic boards, including The Guardsmen. A resident of Larkspur since 2002.

Philip Terry
|
 |
A Founder of the Foundation and a Director; a member of the City of Larkspur Library Board for over 30 years; former director of Systems Computer Software at PG&E; poet and painter and a Larkspur resident for 43 years. Graduate of San Francisco State University (BA in History).
“Libraries need more funding and being a member of the Foundation Board allows me an opportunity to support the Larkspur Library, which has given me so much knowledge and pleasure living in Larkspur.”

Kristin Wade
|
 |
Born and raised in Marin County, Kristin has been an active member of the Larkspur/Corte Madera school PTAs since 2004. Kristin holds an undergraduate degree in Journalism from Cal-Poly and a graduate degree in counseling psychology. She worked in human resources and career counseling before deciding to stay home to raise her two children. Her husband, Philip, is currently a trustee for the Larkspur/Corte Madera School District.
"I have always loved to read and I have tried to instill this love of reading in our children. Instilling a love of reading is a gift for life. Starting a new book is like taking a trip to a new and wonderful place - you never know what you will encounter but it will be a worthwhile experience. A library can be a magical place to learn, explore and experience."
